There is a new standard for American political figures: Call yourself the candidate for Joe Six Pack and if you can walk away from a debate or an appearance without making a complete fool of yourself you win: So how does it apply to the EPL?
The Joe 6-Pack Award- Pompey-The retirement home for English footballers continues to make old English players happy in their old age if not exactly a real threat to do anything-True Joe 6 Pack style.
The Joe Biden-Winning is meaningless if your not a fool…

First Question: Does the Arsenal meltdown mean that we have something to watch each week if the Big 4 don't face off against each other or was the Hull match just a tease?
Second Question: Does Wayne Rooney need a new address or is having Ronaldo back enough to get him on the ball, or has reality finally caught up with Wayne?
Third Question: Is Chelsea just about business or do they have a soft side?
Fourth Question: Is bad refereeing ruining the game or just making it more interesting? Is mo…

I do not know how many people in this community had a chance to watch the LA v. Fire game from Toyota Park last night in Chicago. It was everything a sporting event should be a capacity crowd, on their feet, a great night weather wise and lots of action on the field. To those who say America just can't understand soccer and will treat it like a MLB game I hope you had a opportunity to see the game. The TV crew noted it right away that the fans, as opposed to a recent game for the USMNT that they…

Best Bailout Award: No not to the Federal Reserve but Man City. Shows you what putting in a few bucks into a team could do. You may be better then Man U quicker then you think. BTW, do your new owners have a few extra`bucks to bailout Wall Street, the US taxpayers do not.
The How Not to Dress Award goes to Sir Alex Ferguson. Love the AIG jersey now that the American taxpayers own it, but a really bad look today Alex, especially in fashionable Chelsea. In the future stick to a shirt and tie. Des…

MVP of the Week- JS and the Gaffer-The return of the chat, just a class act, thats why the NY Times was calling. Thanks guys.
Are the Gunners really the Oakland A's of the EPL. That maybe truer then one thinks. Can we expect the Gunners to be wearing the crown come May? Not really, but they will look good trying.
Not ready for prime time yet award-Man. City-a few more signings are needed but when that happens blue maybe become much more popular in Manchester.
Is the Gaffer of the year hanging…

About 11,000 people saw a great effort by the USA to all but book their ticket to the finals in the regional qualifying. More on that later, but first the fan report.
11,000 people to see a WC qualifier. The qualifying process is still not know well enough by most American's or even cared about. The Chicago Fire have been doing a lot better at the gate then the US Men did at Toyota Park. We still need help re: people in the seats. It brings a much better fan feel to the game. Wednesday night fo…

ok, football fans it's time for QH # 3
Liverpool-finally a result that justifies their play. It's not too early to say it is time for Rafa to go. Is it too early to ask for some better results from Villa. I love Martin O'Neill but is he missing out on some early seasons openings.
West Ham-Are you for real or is this a typical Curbishley team that looks good early and then struggles to the finish line? Paul Ince are you the nice guy who will finish last. After some of the calls yesterday you ma…

Did anyone ever think Hull City would be undefeated after week two. Most people had them already back down by now.
With the big win by Stoke City you have to bet everything on West Brom to win next week, it's in the cards.
Was the Fulham game one of the best of the year already. They played at at superior level over Arsenal. Last year it was almost a joke when Roy Hodgson took over, now who is the joke on.
Can someone tell the Spurs the season has started. Did Sunderland really look good yest…

Well after the US Women's Gold Medal performance in the Olympics and the US Men' s victory over Guatemala on the road I can truly be pleased a s a soccer loving American.
What can be said about the Women's team except defense wins. You saw what was a more talented Brazil team drop the Gold Medal to the USA who practiced a team approach after losing their star player. Much will be made of course about Hope Solo and her outstanding performance but it was the people in front of her that made Gold…

Let me say that given my schedule today I saw very little action but followed most of the days action on my radio. So what were the big results of the day? Pool and the Gunners get by with 1-0 wins. Can we really be excited. A Fulham defeat to newly promoted Hull City, well I'll see Brian McBride at the Chicago Fire game tonight and ask him to return to save Fulham. At least you had scoring in the Everton game and the Spurs still haven't found out like last year that the season starts in August.…

I am feeling very guilty tonight. Why you may ask, well previous years the night before the start of EPL season it was like Christmas Eve. I just couldn't wait to get up, get the coffee going, tune in the BBC pre-game coverage, and look for the start of the chat. This year, I have no such feeling. Old age. No, soccer as a whole has made me a sports fan again. Just over load.
It seems like only last month that we were watching a classic Champions League final. It seems just two weeks ago the Eur…

Well I was Captain America and had believed for months that the USA could good get a medal in China. I was badly mistaken. Luckily today I was so busy at work that I had little time to reflect on the failure of the Men's team. It is beyond my level of expertize to suggest any systemic issue with US Soccer, but as a fan of the national team and someone who has seen it play in person four times in recent years one issue seems to always be on the boil, maturity level. Given the number of players ke…

Ok, it hurts I’ll admit that, seeing the game dominated by the Yanks, and losing the 3 points late in the game, but we got the point we needed and are in an excellent position to advance, better then anyone else in our group. Going into the games if we said that which I think I did, Kartik had me taking a sobriety check!
Lets hand it to Novak, he has got the US playing the physical game that the major European teams play so well, which until this squad we have not seen the US play before.
Hold…

A win for the US but certainly not the big win that we hoped for after the defeat vs. Norway. Could it be that after losing it's star coming into the games the US is just a average team? Frankly, that would have to be my opinion at this team. The US ladies do not have enough time to show us more, so at this time, it looks like the gold in 2004 will be replaced by a bronze at best. Believe me, as Captain America it's hard for me to say, but it's true.

Has anyone taken a look at the latest rankings. Well if your country was not at Euro 2008, there is no need to look. The system is broken if being in Austria in June is the basis for getting ranked in the top 10 in the world.

Well, if you missed the American women's game you did not miss much. A 2-0 defeat for the US ladies, not a great start to the Olympics. hope the men fare better vs. Japan. Griff maybe right on women's soccer after all.

For those who still complain about the lack of soccer on US TV note the following:
Early morning live coverage of US v. Norway, Olympic soccer, women's I know but still a good game
ESPN2- live coverage of Barcelona v. Red Bulls, ok, this is the big one ESPN, doing a exhibition football game without the words NFL next to it. Maybe a former EPL star will attract a audience, but the real fans here know what a pre-season friendly is like, but to have ESPN show it across the US, now your talking! b…

I'm just amazed by the new community. This is over the top. Who needs women when you have a community like this! Since I'm over 50 women are less important!
Really this not the ultimate experience, it's heaven on earth! It will take me weeks to figure this all out, but well worth it. This is a red carpet for the fan who can only admire the EPL from afar. Thanks Chris.
